Best Ice Skating Rinks In & Around Atlanta, GA

Sure, Atlanta might not be a snow-socked winter wonderland—a lot of folks don’t exactly complain about that, by the way—but that doesn’t mean timeless holiday pleasures aren’t in full supply.

As a guest of ours here at the Courtland Grand Hotel in Downtown Atlanta, you’re well set up for getting into the seasonal spirit—and one surefire way to do that is to don a pair of ice skates and get out on the rink!

And, as it happens, your Trademark Collection by Wyndham guest room or suite here at the Courtland Grand puts you within easy reach of a number of standout ice rinks. Here are some of the go-to ones, ordered roughly by distance from our Downtown Atlanta hotel.

Skate the Station at Atlanta Station (1380 Atlanta Dr NW, Atlanta, GA)

Staying with us at the Courtland Grand Hotel, you’re only about 10 minutes away from the Southeast’s biggest outdoor ice-skating rink: Skate the Station at Atlanta Station.

The Skate the Station rink’s open this season from November 17th through January 15th, with the following hours: Monday through Friday, 4 to 10 PM; Saturday, 11 AM to 11 PM; and Sunday, noon to 8 PM.

The Rink at Park Tavern (500 10th St NE, Atlanta, GA)

This Midtown rink provides fine Piedmont Park views as its backdrop, and the heated Garden Tent ensures rain-or-shine skating pleasures. The Rink at Park Tavern opens for the season on Thanksgiving weekend and delights skaters all the way through January 15th.

It’s open 4:30 PM till midnight Monday to Thursday, and 11:30 AM till midnight Friday and Saturday. Don’t miss the associated Miracle on 10th Street holiday celebration going down as well.

Skate the Sky at Ponce City Market (675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA)

This 3,500-square-foot rink at Ponce City Market’s the ROOF lets you skate a full 10 stories up over Ponce De Leon Avenue, November 24th through January 7th. Friday Night Ice theme nights add to the appeal, as does the Holiday Social Bar.

Avalon on Ice (400 Avalon Blvd, Alpharetta, GA)

Not far north of Atlanta, check out the Rockefeller Center-inspired Avalon on Ice skating rink, open November 19th through January 15th. Skate here during that window Monday through Friday 3 to 10 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 10 PM, and Sunday noon to 7 PM.
